Jakarta Governor Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo said that he is very careful in deciding the continuation of monorail construction project in the capital city because he does not want any problem appears in the future after the cooperation agreement (PKS) with PT Jakarta Monorail (JM) is signed.
It’s fine. The project has been stalled since long ago, and we want to revive it again. The project hasn’t started because we’re being careful
On the other side, he also does not mind if the agreement still not being signed after he is non-active from governor position. He admitted that monorail construction project has been stall
ed for ages, but this is the time to revive it again.Basuki Regretted PT JM’s Advertisement on TV“It’s fine. The project has been stalled since long ago, and we want to revive it again. The project hasn’t started because we’re being careful. We have to count thoroughly. Don’t let the project (still) stalled after the agreement signed. If it had been signed, the project must run,” stated Jokowi at City Hall, Friday (5/23).
According to Jokowi, monorail cooperation agreement is not yet signed because PT JM has not able to answer the questions asked by Jakarta Provincial Government regarding monorail depot as well as profit and loss. Those questions are asked because city government is being careful in order to get the project run as scheduled.
“Previously, Tomang has been chosen for the depot location. But since the area is an open space, it is not allowed. Thus, new depot location is being searched now, just hasn’t found it yet. PT JM can deliver alternative location, but we’ll check it first. It is not necessarily accepted. Final decision is still in Jakarta Provincial Government’s hands,” he uttered.
As previously reported, Jakarta Provincial Government is giving leeway to PT JM to complete the cooperation agreement requirements. Initially, those requirements must be met at the end of February. But on February 28, city government gave leeway until the end of March.
Now, Jakarta Provincial Government no longer gives time limit to PT JM to complete those requirements. The requirements requested by the city government cover financial aspects, legal aspects, technical studies, and full poles payment by PT JM to previous contractor, PT Adhi Karya.
